Thanksgiving Tablescape

Thanksgiving Tablescape

My inspiration for this years Thanksginving table, is my new dining room.  The room used to be a shade of yellow, with antique dark oak furniture and red patterned upholstery.  Recently, I had the walls painted a creamy white and I brightened up the room with a much lighter dining set.  My plan was to create a tablescape in more muted color tones to complement the room.  I wanted to use existing pieces in my home as well as buy some new, to create a fresh new look.

Whenever I’m doing a tablescape, mantel, or any other decor project, I always start out with a base and build from there.  This year, I saw some fancy pumpkins in whole foods, they were unique in both shape and color and knew instantly that I wanted to use them on my table.  So now with my color palette and base having been chosen, I continued on from there!  While perusing the Nordstrom home department (my favorite department), I found the perfect runner!  It’s perfect, because not only did it work perfectly with my Thanksgiving decor, it also goes beautifully with my new dining room so I’ll be able to use it often.

You might recognize the antique brass taper holders from last year.  I love the simple elegance that they bring to my table.  I definitely recommend the understated candle holder, they are a great table staple that you will use over and over again!

Now on to the actual place setting!  This years chargers are from where else, but Target, of course!  These are a little more pricey than last years Christmas chargers that I got for $1.00, but at $2.99 each, they are still a steal and I can use them for Christmas and my New Years party as well!  Anything multipurpose is a score in my book!  The plates are my smart purchase from William Sonoma last year.  It’s their basic white dinner plate.  Great for entertaining at a great price point and the simplicity of the design allows them to work with everything!

Now finding the perfect napkin ring was a real struggle, I just couldn’t find anything that I loved and if I don’t love it, I can’t buy it.  My answer, twine and leaves from my backyard!  Had the twine and the leaves were free…perfect!

Of course, I must have some sort of flower on every table I design, so I decided to use those fabulous little bud vases, (the ones from Nordstrom home clearance last year) and I filled them flowers for that perfect pop of color!

And how about my cute little rose and gold mercury glass votive holders?  Can’t forget those, another great deal.  Got them half off, on Sur La Tables clearance shelves!

So here are the simple steps to creating your perfect tablescape.  Once you have your table inspiration, you need to come up with the foundation of your centerpiece and your color scheme.  Search your house first and then go shopping!  The idea is to repurpose items in your home and then buy the rest!  Remember to check out the clearance shelves, discount stores and resale stores when looking for table decor.  You don’t need to spend a ton of money to put together a gorgeous table!
