How I styled my outdoor mantel 5 ways, with 2 artificial grass plants, from Target!
Let me start out by saying, I normally do not use artificial plants in my decor. However, when I saw these plants, I knew I needed them. They were simple, but came in nice ceramic pots that are neutral, so they work with everything. I picked them up from Target on a whim, knowing I would find use for them somewhere. As soon as I brought them home, my outdoor mantel immediately came to mind! I knew that I would be entertaining in the backyard soon, and I really wanted the fireplace to stand out.
I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on my outdoor mantel, considering we only use it half the year. My goal was to buy these 2 pieces and then style the rest with items from my prop room. Using these plants as a base, I was able to create five different designs. Each design style is unique, and shows you just how versatile these artificial grasses are. Once again, a perfect example of how shopping at Target, and moving things around in your home, can create a completely new look with minimal cost.
A little side note: While I was styling the mantel, and shooting these pics, my husband looks at me and says, “What are you moving around now?”, my response was, “I’m trying to save money”. On that, he quickly stopped talking and went about his business:)
My 5 mantel designs
Obviously, not everyone has an outdoor fireplace, but these ideas can easily be used on an indoor mantel, shelf, console table, etc. It is so easy to get started, find a piece or two that you want to use as a base, and build from there. It may take a few times of bringing things in and out, but eventually you will find pieces that work together beautifully!
