Before we start talking about cleanses, diets, workouts, and protein shakes on January 1, let’s have on last hurrah, and enjoy a rich, decadent, oh so bad for you, chocolatey shake.
Today’s recipe is inspired by a chocolate cake that I make every year for Christmas Eve. My family and I absolutely love this cake, but after a few days it starts to get dried out, and it just doesn’t taste the same. So as I was ridding my fridge of holiday leftovers, I stumbled upon this delicious cake, and just couldn’t bear to throw it out. That is when the light bulb went on, and I decided that I needed to turn this yummy cake into chocolate cake shakes. It’s the perfect New Years Eve treat for the kids…and me too! All you need is ice cream, milk, and chunks of chocolate cake. It is best to use cake that is a day or two old, because the it holds up better in the shakes. However, if you need to make these chocolate cake shakes asap, you can always use a fresh chocolate cake, as well.
New Years Eve Chocolate Cake Shakes
Here is what you’ll need:
- 4 cups vanilla ice cream
- 4 cups of chocolate cake cubes (with or without frosting)
- 3/4 cup of milk, plus more to add if needed
- Whip cream
- Chocolate syrup
- Chocolate bar for chocolate shavings
- Maraschino cherries
- Put ice cream, chocolate cake and milk into a blender.
- Blend on low-speed until incorporated.
- Adjust amounts of ice cream, milk, and cake if needed.
- Pulse until desired thickness.
It’s super simple, really delicious, and such a festive treat for New Years Eve! Not to mention a great way to use left over cake too 😉
Wishing Everyone A Safe and Happy New Year!
