Vintage Chanel Poster – Best Market Find Ever

Vintage Chanel Poster – Best Market Find Ever

Can we create a new term for a REALLY late blog post?  Reason being, I am writing about my market find from June!  Better late than never though, and when you see it you will agree that it was well worth the wait:)

So once again, I attended my favorite market, the Randolph Street Market in Chicago.  As usual, there were booths filled with great things, but one piece  in particular caught my eye…a vintage Chanel poster.  Funny thing was, I wasn’t really in the market for a Chanel poster, but who is right??  Not to mention, I’m running out of wall space.  However, when I walked up to the vintage poster booth, this stunner was the first thing I fell in love with.

There is a little story behind this poster as well, which is what made it even more enticing.  If anyone is familiar with Andy Warhol’s works, you would know that this artwork was originally done by Warhol.  In the 90’s, Chanel received  permission by the Warhol estate, to use prints of his artwork as an ad campaign.  The smaller posters, like mine, were hung in the Chanel boutiques and the large size was hung on the streets of Paris.  Cool right?!?  So now you know why I had to have this poster, even though I had no idea where I was gonna put it.  While I was deciding on where to put it, I was sending my mom numerous pics of all different types of posters, including the Chanel.  Back and forth we went thinking of color schemes, bare wall space, etc.  Finally, I decided I did not care if I didn’t have a place for it!  I could easily move another piece to make room for this beauty!  SOLD!!

Sure enough after I had it framed, I found it the perfect wall in my family room.  It goes wonderfully with the furniture, rugs and other art in the room. I couldn’t be happier (:

Funny how I always come across the best finds, when I have no idea what I’m looking for!
