I just love designing my home for the Holidays! Seeing my favorite decorations and ornaments that I haven’t laid eyes on for a year, always brings a smile to my face. My collection is filled with both new and old decorations, some I’ve purchased myself, but there are many that have been given to me as gifts over the years. I am not one who likes everything to look the same year after either, so every season I try to change things up, by giving each piece a new home. Decor that was in my living room last year, might be in my family room and dining room this year, and so on. Doing this makes everything look and feel new to me. Most years, I also try to incorporate a new piece or two to add to my holiday collection. That definitely helps to freshen things up as well. What I love most about Holiday decor, or any interior design for that matter, is that my home is a reflection of me. There is no right or wrong, my home is my creative outlet!
This year, I’ve decided, to share my festive home and all of my favs with you! Hope enjoy:)
As you probably know by now, I love decorating with books, whether they are coffee table books, vintage reads, or in this case hymnals that the school gave away. Leave it to my son to be the one to take all of the hymnals home! Although I must say, they work perfectly on my mantel for Christmas. Oh and I just had to show you one of my cute finds of the season, my gold dove candle holder. Got it on clearance at Target for $3.99!
Here’s a quick way to turn some coffee table books into Holiday decor. Tie a festive ribbon around them like a present and your done! Love my Grinch!
Thank you Michelle for my cute little Santa sign. Nothing like a silly Santa sign, sitting on an antique chair with a kids Coco Chanel book and a Christmas lights necklace from the Jingle Bash! I like to mix things up. (hehe)
I’ve had this little pillow for years. Love!
Keeping it minimal and neutral in the foyer. I love the peaceful feel when you walk in the door.
I like to keep my dining room simple until I set the table for Christmas Eve. Fresh flowers every week are a must though!
Somehow, I manage to incorporate my Waterford angel in a pic every year. She is a very special piece, that was given to me by my great Aunt Dora.
Found these cool stainless cups at Goodwill, ( I think they were $1 and $1.99 each). I’ve used them as mini vases before, but for my Christmas Eve tablescape this year, I will be using them as candle holders!
The only thing I’m not in love with is my fake tree. I’ve always been a real tree kind of gal, but my hubby bought faux a few years ago. I think next year I’m going to switch back! Nothing is better at Christmas time than the smell of a fraser fir!
Another favorite pillow of mine! Perfect message for this time of year. Thank you Aunt Pam:)
My signature style, mason jar candle holders in the fireplace! It’s too dangerous to light a real fire with 3 crazy boys, so this has become my solution to having fire in the fireplace.
My new favorite Christmas collection, my snow globes.
I purchased this snow globe from HomeGoods, and a portion of the proceeds went to St. Jude. One of my favorite charities.
Here are just a couple of my favorite ornaments. Notice the California theme. Thank you to my awesome friend Kara out in Cali, she bought me my prized state of California ornament.
Here’s a new one for this year. Every hockey mom needs a fancy hockey ornament on her tree!
How adorable are these hockey skate stockings. My boys got them as presents from their Auntie Sheri…she’s the best!
Last, but certainly not least, my Santa Cubs bobble head. Given to me years ago by my mom and her husband Doug (true Cubs fans I might add). Every year I’ve put him out with pride, but this year the kids and I were beaming from head to toe! This year is next year! Yay Cubbies!
There is so much more that I could show you, but the post would go on forever. I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek of my Holiday at home.
